Karis Lai

Karis Lai is a sophomore studying History from Princeton, New Jersey. Karis' research interests lie at the intersection of philosophy, history, anthropology, and mixed media, aiming to address current-day issues through the stories of individuals. Currently, through the Houston Asian American Archive, Karis is working on a documentary about Asian American beauty standards and a podcast episode titled "Pastoral Perspectives: Can Christian Values and Tiger Parenting Coexist?". As a Moody Fellow, Karis aspires to create an archive cataloging the experiences of Houston Uber Drivers.

In her free time, Karis enjoys singing with the Rice Philharmonics, discussing philosophical texts as the Vice President of the Houston Institute, capturing moments through her business Karis Jane Photography, and expanding her tea collection.
