Meghna Yennu

Biosciences and English Majors | Brown College

Hi! My name is Meghna, and I'm a junior from Brown, studying English and Biosciences, with an interest in Medical Humanities. I enjoy using speculative fiction and methodologies to explore and challenge how we think and perceive about the world around us. I’m interested in pushing the boundaries of disciplines, working within multiple fields to gain a fuller understanding on the issues that we struggle in research.

Subjectivity is something that occurs in all disciplines; through humanities, we can actively acknowledge the gaze and build onwards, not confined by simplified models of only medical, political, social, and relational approaches to our human life with endless confounding variables and uncountable possibilities.

Currently, I’m also serving as Medical Humanities Ambassador at Rice, as well being involved in dance and organizing a speculation fiction zine. I’ve gotten the chance to work within  multiple creative disciplines, whether it be writing poetry, dance, filmmaking, and visual art, and in my spare time, I like trying out new restaurants and analyzing literature. Excited to be part of this program!
