Mariella Gonzalez Molina

Major: Art History | Minor: Museum and Cultural Heritage


Mariella Gonzalez Molina is a senior from Sid Richardson College majoring in History and Art History, with a minor in Museums and Cultural Heritage. She is a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow, and intends to pursue a doctorate degree in Material Culture. As an undergraduate, she has conducted research under the History Department regarding the collecting practices of local philanthropist and founder of Bayou Bend, Ima Hogg. As a junior, she continued this research as a Jameson Fellow at Bayou Bend working alongside Bayou Bend’s collection manager and curator. She has experience conducting extensive archival work as a summer intern at the Arte Publo Press, and is currently conducting an Honors Thesis with the History Department. Gonzalez Molina is dedicated to expanding humanities mentorship at Rice, and serves as a Head Peer Academic Advisor for Sid Richardson. As a member of DUAC, she hopes to make the resources available to her more widely accessible and advertised to incoming students. Her research interests are national identity, museums, museum studies, material culture.
