As researchers and scholars, our faculty is second to none. We are proudest, though, of our students who are learning to probe the big questions and develop the analytical and interpretive skills to address them.

Regarding Enrollments
Humanities Encouraged Best Practices Regarding Enrollment:
In efforts to attain robust enrollment please consider the following:
Have in place a legible and discernable course title, tailored to students, and a course description that speaks clearly to what the course is about. Clarity and simplicity are the order of the day here.
Be mindful of the timing and placement of courses in concert with other departmental offerings. Faculty must coordinate and work in consultation with their department chair and DUS on this front
Enrollment Caps:
Given this is dependent to a certain extent on the particular course in question, we first encourage faculty to look at the course demand, rather than giving out strict cap numbers. If there are students lined up expressing interest in enrolling and the faculty feels they can take on additional students without shifting the course entirely from how it was envisioned, we encourage faculty to take on more students. We ask where you see great demand, you consider raising this cap.
The Dean’s Office strongly encourages every faculty member to develop a course they can have in their repertoire that can engage a larger pool of students.
Waitlists: The Dean’s Office encourages all faculty whenever possible to use the waitlist function with the registrar. This is an easy way to manage course registration and also an effective way to document and demonstrate course demand.
