Hi everyone! My name is Rohini Pillay and I am a sophomore majoring in History and Art History with minors in French Studies and Politics, Law, and Social Thought. I am originally from South Africa. After graduating from Rice University, I plan to attend law school with the goal of specializing in human rights law. In my free time, I enjoy Bharatanatyam dance and am involved with the Baker Institute’s Journal of Public Policy, InThread, and Model United Nations.

Research Interests:  decolonization in South Asia and Southern Africa, identity formation in South Asian diasporic communities in the Caribbean, Islamic art and architecture in Southern Spain, and the influence of African modernism in 20th-century West African art.
