Anna Stravato

Hello! My name is Anna Stravato. I’m a junior from Jones College studying English Literature and French. I am interested in the nexus between climate change, migration, and the human experience: I plan to research the way in which political conflicts arise from environmentally-determined tensions such as resource scarcity or agricultural collapse. More specifically, I want to study the way that these tensions map onto patterns of migration, and how this migration ultimately affects both international dynamics and, on a more individual level, the psychological and physical health of migrants and refugees.

Research interests: What are the different ways that politics, familial relationships, cultural diffusion, and self-perception are influenced by climate-driven migration? How do the systems for welcoming climate refugees vary from country to country, including programs related to medical care or education? What do these kinds of systems look like going forward, as the climate crisis progresses?
