Steven Burgess is a Junior at Duncan College, majoring in Art and Media Studies. His research is focused on the cultural intersection between a place and its musical origins. He is interested in exploring art used as a response to societal and systemic issues affecting a certain place. Through the medium of documentary filmmaking, he captures stories that combine music, culture, and the human condition into a final product. Steven is currently working on a documentary exploring Houston’s Hip-Hop scene through the lens of Third Ward - interviewing artists, academics, and community members. His affinity for the arts and preserving stories are at the core of his research.
