Emerging technologies and social changes are pushing all of us — as students and faculty, as citizens, as human beings — across ethical frontiers with alarming speed. In response, programs are calling on our Philosophy Department and its faculty to bring ethics courses into their curriculum for sciences, math and engineering majors. Labs want ethics workshops and students, campus leaders, business and policy makers want the guidance and problem-solving that a hub for the study and research of ethical inquiry at Rice can provide.
