Ayla Davis

Art Major | Lovett College

Ayla Davis is a Film student in her final year at Rice University. She specializes in documentary filmmaking and sketch comedy writing. She has done work for a variety of local art-centered entities, including the Houston Cinema Arts Society, the Moody Center for the Arts, and the Deluxe Theater. Over the summer, she worked for DiverseWorks as a production assistant on the set of an experimental performance-installation/film called LANDS – Portrait of the City of Houston. Now, she has a fellowship at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston in the Film Department, where she gets paid to watch movies at her desk (funnest gig yet!). She also works as a projectionist at Rice Cinema. Since everyone asks, Ayla’s favorite film is Titane (2021) by Julia Ducournau. Although Ayla hails from Dallas, Texas, she experiences an acute emotional connection with the deserts of New Mexico, and hopes to live there someday. She also aspires to become a tattoo artist on the side, and lately has been practicing on herself and other brave souls. Ayla is the proud caretaker of a Tlitocatl albopilosus, or curly hair tarantula, as well as a small colony of dubia roaches.
