English and Classical Studies Majors | Hanszen College

I am a student in English and classical languages and literatures, most invested in studying poetic form and genre across those disciplines. I am interested in how, when they go to craft verse, many of the most interesting poets in the English language, from Pope to Barrett Browning to Eliot, interact with stylistic and formal ideas from the wide spectrum of Greek and Latin poetry.

As part of the Minter Summer Scholars program, I was able to do work on the stylistic inheritance of T.S. Eliot’s plays from Attic tragedy, and I would like to continue expanding my research along those lines.

Research interests: Classical and Early Modern English poetry, the epic genre, versification, material and book studies.
