Students working at Houston museum as part of summer internship
School of Humanities and Arts

As researchers and scholars, our faculty is second to none. We are proudest, though, of our students who are learning to probe the big questions and develop the analytical and interpretive skills to address them.

The Arts

SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES AND ARTS > PROSPECTIVE STUDENT PATHWAY > ARTS

Houston is home to 19 museums and all the major performing arts —opera, theater, symphony, and ballet. And there's more: jazz and chamber music, blues, modern dance, indie cinema, major photography festivals, contemporary crafts, Houston’s own hip hop, and art cars!

The Department of Art History and the Department of Visual and Dramatic Arts provide their majors with direct access to experts, holdings and projects at arts institutions in Houston, including the world-class Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, and the Menil Collection. Rice’s Moody Center for the Arts is a forum for our students, faculty, and the public. And there's more:
