English (Creative Writing) and Health Sciences Majors | Sid Richardson College

My name is Maya Harpavat and I am a sophomore from Sid Richardson College majoring in Health Science and English (Concentration in Creative Writing), and minoring in medical humanities. I am interested in medical advocacy through writing and storytelling, which can drive further understanding of the different ways this can change the landscape of mental health for younger populations. I hope that through learning from my research at Rice, I can better learn about how cultural and personal experiences play a role in traditional medicine and how we can use this information to better understand and treat patients in our world today.
